Three Day Weekend Re-Round

September 10, 2007 · Leave a Comment

After considering this excellent post by WFS about his 3 day weekend I decided to embark on my own little adventure. Armed with with a crew of good freinds from Bellingham, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, and parts unkown I took in a 30th Birthday party for Matt White, The UW Football, The Seahawks football game and managed to survive a great deal of Das Boot flavored debauchery. At some point I even became freindly with a very cute Seattlite woman. During all this madness there were plenty of things to Cheers. For this post I will Cheers Inappropriateness based on the following conversation between “Agent J” and Smoking Hot Waitress just before the UW game :

Agent J muttering under his breath just loud enough for the people at the table to hear: Are you an official? Because your officially giving me a boner.

Smoking Hot Waitress: What? Did you say you want something?

Agent J looking at his wedding ring: Yeah, how about poligamy?

Smoking Hot Waitress: Poligamy?

Agent J: I’ll just have a Bloody Mary.

To Inapropriate behaviour.

Chin Chin Loves Weddings

September 2, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Congrats to Kate Ranger-Stevenson & Trent Stevenson, their getting married today. One of the most entertaining couples I know, I’m worried my shoulder injury will keep me from winning the four-square game that will undoubtedly break out at the reception.

I’m trying to think of a nice lie to throw around at the wedding, tricky since a lot of the people there know me very well. It would be fun to try and convince those attending that I got married last weekend during a Ziggy Marley concert, the result of a whirlwind romance with a dirty hippie. This could limit the possible good times available at a wedding with no date. Maybe I’ll have recently become a devout Mormon (don’t worry, I’ll still sneak some drinks). I just need to know where to get the funny underwear.

Here’s to Kate & Trent.

I Won’t Complain If It Rains

August 31, 2007 · Leave a Comment

After hi-tailing it out of the home town in early May, I make my triumphant return to the Pacific Northwest tonight. I plan to celebrate with giant slabs of salmon, wearing Birkenstock’s with sox and a North Face fleece, and getting fucking drunk at the world famous Up & Up Tavern. I’ll probably eat a few Dick’s cheeseburgers too.

A toast to the homies who have offered me rides so I don’t have to rent a car like a sucker.

A Day Late, A Buck Short

August 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Occasional Chin Chin! poster STP turned 28 yesterday. On my 28th birthday I hiked to a gorgeous Costa Rican waterfall during the day and got better acquainted with a cute German girl that night. STP had dinner with his dad, I’m sure that was nice.

So let’s drank to STP lasting for 28 years.

Great News For Stalkers

August 10, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Lets say you’ve been stalking that special someone, but she moved away, she said it was cause you were stalking her, but you know its because she doesn’t know how to handle her strong feelings for you. How could she not love you after you cut her initials into pelvis? So you tried to google her, to track her down. Turns out there are a lot of Mary Smith’s in the world, so its hard to sort through all those pages.

Good news via lifehacker we have spock, which searcheson a name and breaks it out into individuals, like Mary or Chin Chin bloggers. Here’s to Spock, and all the other ways that the interweb helps us, I mean you, stock, er, keep in touch.

Nice Work

August 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

For a while now I’ve had the great burden of being the only consistent poster here at Chin Chin. Since our sole goal is to give the blog reading public a daily reason to drink, the weight has been intoxicating. In light of that, I’d like to toast the Pitt’s Steve Beuscemi in the 90’s posting rate of late.

Saying Good-bye

August 2, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As of tomorrow I will no longer be gainfully employed and no longer be a part of the AmeriCorps Cape Cod program.  This gives me to solid reasons to drink, first to celebrate one last time with the people I spent the last year of my life with (at least those who are still around), and because it is always easier to say good-bye with a hangover!

A Contender For the Chin Chin Presidential Endorsement

July 24, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The nyTimes ran an article on Ron Paul, who I like as a presidential candidate when he isn’t sounding too far out there (he is basically in favor of getting rid of the entire government). A lot of my views have moved towards the libertarian side in the past few years, but Paul is still a lot farther out there than I am. The article says he’s big with people disillusioned with the mainstream politicians, that might be why I like him.

The article quotes the editor of a paper in Paul’s district as saying “If a little old man calls up from the farm and says, ‘I need a wheelchair,’ he’ll get the damn wheelchair for him.” W wouldn’t do that, and Bubba wouldn’t have either. He’s got my vote, although my views do not necessarily reflect those of Chin Chin or our affiliates.

Here’s to Ron Paul!

No, But I’m Planning on Going

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Disclaimer: lying sober is wrong and hurts people, making up silly-story lies while drinking is fun. Don’t expect sober people to believe them.

I bought a Singha Beer shirt at a second hand store. Back up in the Evergreen state it didn’t seem to garner much attention, but every time I wear it “out” in San Diego, somebody asks me if I’ve been to Thailand. And yes, I do wear it a lot, I think its a cool shirt.

Last friday I was waiting for a table at a restaurant when my boy MC pointed out another dude wearing the same shirt. I told him what I’ve just told you, and we began discussing the pros and cons of telling the truth vs lying about a make believe trip to Thailand. I said I’d lie in the future, but dude left without incident. The lie was going to revolve around heavy drinking and drug use, to explain why I couldn’t remember much about the country.

Later that evening, MC, his special lady, and myself were on the verge of having some Irish car bombs (after having a frank discussion about the offensive name of the drink, sorry Ireland) when same fellow as earlier approached me and asked if I’d ever been to Thailand. I choked and told the truth, but he’d never been to Thailand either. He had been given the shirt by somebody who went, and also did not enjoy telling strangers that he just had the shirt and had never been to its homeland. He also had downed a car bomb earlier in the night. We had a lot in common.

So lets all drink to guys like me and Matt (?), who wear touristy shirts from places we’ve never been. Great conversation starters.

Is This Post Compliant?

July 7, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I recently had to complete compliance training at the new job. It involved answering the following quesiton:

Which of the following is the best order in which to consult with or tell others about an ethical issue?

  • The ethics hotline
  • The readers of your Internet weblog (blog)
  • Your supervisor

I don’t care what the boss says, Chin Chin is the only source I trust for ethics advice, even if we don’t have any readers. Here’s to ethics.
