We all know what tomorrow is (unless you aren’t reading this today July 3rd) and I thought I’d drop some links to help you prepare:
- Red, White and Booze via Lifehacker
- If you live in SoCal like me, this link might be handy tomorrow night
- If your hosting tomorrow eHow wants to help with the menu (I didn’t check, it might suck)
I should’ve prepared better for this post and had more than one good link on hand. I’m going to grab a ice cold Busch and toast being prepared.

So a month and change in we’ve finally changed the header from the default. I labored for all of ten minutes. Look to the top of the page, and you’ll know see a few of my boys enjoying a shotski. If you’ve never had the pleasure, it’ll make for a nice weekend project that even the Pitt could pull off. Just get a ski with no binding (you could work around the binding, but working is for suckers), you’re bet off with a long skinny ski. Your dad probably has two leftover from when he rocked the local mountain in the eighties, before his back gave out. Glue some shot glasses to it, grab some friends and your ready to go. But here’s the important part, before imbibing, you have to sing the song:
I’m a little shot-ski, long and slim
Fill me up with liquor to the brim
When your not drunk, no need to pout
Tip me over and pour me out!
So pour one (or four) back in honor of the shot-ski

No doubt the loyal readers of this blog are a hardy lot. And as such have long since cast away the days of drinking three beers (or one Boones Farm) and acting like a jackass. No I would guess that the collection of individuals that looks to this site for guidance in the qwest for meaningfull intoxication have built up a tollerance to alcohol that would make even the the most grizzled 1850’s claim jumper feel a sence of disturbed pride. But this post is for all the others. Your buddy who only comes out partying once in a blue moon, but when he does you know you can count on him to get tragicly drunk off 8 beers and end up covered in mustard standing on a table screaming obseneties at the top of his lungs. This past weekend bore witness to one of those moments. A friend of mine who recently decided to exit the legions of those who own homes had a house cooling party at his soon to be former abode. By 8:30 he had inbibed several cervasas, pounded a tall boy of Steel Reserve, shotgunned a can of Busch, recieved one swift kick to the baby maker, and attempted (unsecsessfully) to murder a buddy of his with a shovel. Through these actions (and an exessive amount of loud cursing) he also managed to convince most of the neighborhood that his leaving town was probably a good thing.
So lets raise a glass to all those healthy livered friends, who provide ample entertainment on the occasion that they escape their homes.

According to the Freakonomics blog, to day is Celebrating the Power of a Smile Day. After seeing how much more traffic we got after posting one pic of Anna Kournakova, I was thinking of adding some particurlalry attractive smiles for the world to drink to, but I think it’d be best if you found your own smile to toast. Don’t be afraid to toast your own.
So go find a nice smile, and drink to the power of that smile.

Keeping with the history theme I feel the need to make everyone aware that this day in History, 173 years ago, SandPaper was invented. Of course by invented I mean an American put a patent on it effectively stealing an idea that had been around for centuries.
Besides Duct Tape is there any more useful tool out there than sandpaper. For starters it can be used to make surfaces both smooth (for things such as painting) and rough (for certain adhesives). How this is even possible I havent got a clue. More importantly SandPaper has amazing potential as a nickname for those friends of yours who arent so smooth with the ladies, such as Mike “20 grit” Beatty.
If you would like to learn more about SandPaper so you can celebrate it properly and impress both of your friends wikipedia provides everything you need here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandpaper.
Now that you know how awesome SandPaper is lets make this its greatest Birthday Party in the last 167 years (let’s face it we will never top the 6th birthday with the clowns and ponys. People sure knew how to party in 1840). Heres to 20 Grit!

Long ago in my University days, the beer of choice for my friends and I was Busch (and/or Busch Light). This was in no small part due to $1 pitchers at the Up & Up. The price on those has skyrocketed to $2, but that is neither here nor there.
On a spring break trip to Vegas, two friends and I stopped by a gas station to pick up a few beers to take back to the room. We were blown away by the presence of Busch in bottles. Something we had not seen in our sleepy college town or the nearby metropolis of Seattle. Sadly, we could not enjoy the delicious beer because somebody had left there id in the room. Why would you go anywhere on the strip without an id? Apparently the possibility of gambling and drinking hadn’t even occurred to my amigo, despite the fact that we were in Vegas for spring break.
We returned to the room empty handed, and the gas station was too far of a trek to go back for the beer. So sad. Yesterday I was walking back from dinner (Newport Pizza and Ale House, thumbs up), and stopped by the second closest liquor store to my house, that I had yet to visit. No doubt its obvious to you were this is going…Busch in bottles!!
It’s the little things that make life so special. Lets all raise a glass to delayed gratification.

Ahoy,
It is I the pit. You may remember me from my blog “enterthepit”. I have also made guest appearances in “meatball says” and comments on “workingsforsuckers”.
A short while ago I was approached about a blog that would give people a reason to drink everyday, if there is one thing that I can offer this world it is excuses to get shibby.
Alas this dream has finally become a reality and I thepit have been asked to assist with this new up and coming blog. So here is your reason to drink today, THE PIT.
Thats right in one of the most amazing suprises of all time drinking to celebrate me joining this blog has beaten out all other comers including raddishes, legoland, and shawn kemp. So go out and have a drink or seven because if you are reading this blog, your life just got a whole lot more interesting.

Back when I was a young lad in college, I probably spent a little more time than I should have in pubs, bars, taverns, clubs, run down houses with keg-o-rators, alleys behind liquor stores…but whenever the subject of excessive drinking would come up, it could easily be justified, my friends and I didn’t have a problem, we were in college.
It was a sad day when I received my degree and that excuse stopped working. I would like to point out that the older I great the less time I set aside for Pacifico’s in the front lawn, but its still nice to have a reason to celebrate. Hell, some folks might even like to have a reason to celebrate with a Diet Sprite instead of a Tom Collins. We here at Chin Chin are here for you.
Our goal is to provide at least one (and possibly more) reasons to celebrate every single day for the rest of time.
Todays reason to celebrate: Chin Chin the Blog
