A Birthday Post

July 30, 2007 · Leave a Comment

It’s Hillary Swank’s 33rd birthday. Ms. Swank is the most famous actress to attend Sehome High School (I believe she is an alumnus, but I’m not sure). Nobody here at Chin Chin attended Sehome High School, but I lived in the school district and all the posters here attended college a few blocks away. I’d post a picture, but its Jamie Pressly’s 30th birthday, and I’d rather put up a picture of her.

Here’s to you Ms. Swank.

Not that Sane?

In keeping with the theme started by thispost from WorkingsForSuckers, here we go. Britney Spears shall not be outdone. In a week that would be dominated by Lohan related madness, Miss Spears has crept into the limelight(or at least beer sign light) with a bizarre new interview technique. And though here drug of choice is not booze, we will tip a glass to her anyway. So here’s to you Britney Spears, it might be time to shave that noggin agian.

On the Cheney Presidency

July 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I just learned from the one true source for news that Dick Cheney was our nation’s acting president for a couple of hours last weekend while a Presidential colonoscopy was performed.

During his brief reign over our nation, President Cheney classified the second and third floors of the library of congress, ordered his secret service agents to open fire on seven old men and gave a fifty billion dollar contract to Haliburton to…shoot old men.

The Cheney Presidency will be remembered for making us all realize that it could be worse. Going back to STP’s post makes me wonder who would win if Cheney ran against Alexander Putin?  We will never know, but I do know that I will raise a glass to the blessed lack of complications during W’s ass-surgery.

Breaking News From the World of Checkers

July 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The nyTimes reported on a major breakthrough in childhood gaming. Researchers have proven that the Chinook computer program is unbeatable in checkers, but I bet I could woop its ass in tetherball. The articles best sentence: “A checkers hobbyist has independently verified major components of the proof with another computer program.” Checkers hobbyist?

If you’ve got mad checkers skills and are into trying to prove the man wrong, you can play Chinook at http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~chinook/play/

I’m not going to try, I’m just going to drink to Chinook.

No, But I’m Planning on Going

July 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Disclaimer: lying sober is wrong and hurts people, making up silly-story lies while drinking is fun. Don’t expect sober people to believe them.

I bought a Singha Beer shirt at a second hand store. Back up in the Evergreen state it didn’t seem to garner much attention, but every time I wear it “out” in San Diego, somebody asks me if I’ve been to Thailand. And yes, I do wear it a lot, I think its a cool shirt.

Last friday I was waiting for a table at a restaurant when my boy MC pointed out another dude wearing the same shirt. I told him what I’ve just told you, and we began discussing the pros and cons of telling the truth vs lying about a make believe trip to Thailand. I said I’d lie in the future, but dude left without incident. The lie was going to revolve around heavy drinking and drug use, to explain why I couldn’t remember much about the country.

Later that evening, MC, his special lady, and myself were on the verge of having some Irish car bombs (after having a frank discussion about the offensive name of the drink, sorry Ireland) when same fellow as earlier approached me and asked if I’d ever been to Thailand. I choked and told the truth, but he’d never been to Thailand either. He had been given the shirt by somebody who went, and also did not enjoy telling strangers that he just had the shirt and had never been to its homeland. He also had downed a car bomb earlier in the night. We had a lot in common.

So lets all drink to guys like me and Matt (?), who wear touristy shirts from places we’ve never been. Great conversation starters.

Politics Ain’t What They Used to Be

July 11, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Today is the 203 anniversary of Aaron Burr popping a cap in Alexander Hamilton’s ass. I feel stupid for not celebrating the bicentennial. After Hamilton refused to recant statements concerning Burr’s character, the latter challenged the former to duel under the code duello.

I’d watch a lot more CSPAN if shit like that still went d

The radio told me this is the luckiest day of the year, but cause it’s all 7’s I guess. The radio lead me to believe this would lead to excessive sexual promiscuity tonight.

So I guess I have no choice but to toast getting lucky.
