So I was talking to a SoCo promo girl. She was trying to give me a hat, which I did not want. Suprisingly, Southern Comfort came up in the conversation, I said it tastes like peaches, she said it didn’t. I still think it does, liquor flavored peaches, but peaches. I’d like to conduct a survey, but nobody reads the blog. But if you do please chime in with your position on Southern Comfort tasting like peaches.
A toast to anything that tastes like peaches.

During the Chargers game today one of the announcers commented that if he hard one more San Diegan complain about the heat he would hit them. Well, I don’t think he said he would hit ‘em, but I can’t remember exactly what he said. You get the idea.
Anyway, the weather’s nice here, so drink to the nice weather I enjoy. And to the Chargers.

A memo made it’s way to me through the grapevine from the CMS (center for Medicare services) overlords today. Not surprisingly, the memo was not interesting. It did reference the Paperwork Reduction Act, or PRA as I will refer to it here. I don’t know anything about the PRA except its name, and I’m assuming that it was passed by congress.
I’m curios if its intent was to limit actual paperwork required of government employees, saving time and money (theoretically), or if it was to reduce the amount of paper used to save the environment. Either way, I’m also curious about the amount of paperwork done to get the PRA passed, and furthermore, how much paperwork needed to be done by government agencies like CMS to deal with the PRA.
If the intent was environmental, and most of this work was done on computers, the PRA might be a success (lets not think about the power consumed by those computers). If the intent was less work, as the name implies, I can’t imagine it was a success.
This is all conjecture on my part and I would love to hear from someone more knowledgeable on the subject.
For now, I’m going to print out the memo, copy it in triplicate, fill out a TPS report acknowledging its receipt, and then tip back a cold one in honor of the Paperwork Reduction Act.

It’s Brazilian independence day! Anyone got any good Brazil stories? I bet one can have a good time down there, at one point in my life it was at the top of my travel to list, but has since slipped a bit.
I propose a toast to the Brazilian girl I buy coffee from!
Now for some pics of Brazilian girls who don’t sell me coffee

Charlie Sheen is our kind of guy, and today he turns 42. By our kind of guy, I don’t mean to say we condone filandering, drug abuse, or breaking up with Denise Richards, just that he likes to have a good time. Here’s to you Charlie.

I’m not a fan of working, but it seems like the best way to celebrate Labor Day would be to work extra hours, not take the day off. But I don’t make the rules, so lets tip one back in honor of working.

Congrats to Kate Ranger-Stevenson & Trent Stevenson, their getting married today. One of the most entertaining couples I know, I’m worried my shoulder injury will keep me from winning the four-square game that will undoubtedly break out at the reception.
I’m trying to think of a nice lie to throw around at the wedding, tricky since a lot of the people there know me very well. It would be fun to try and convince those attending that I got married last weekend during a Ziggy Marley concert, the result of a whirlwind romance with a dirty hippie. This could limit the possible good times available at a wedding with no date. Maybe I’ll have recently become a devout Mormon (don’t worry, I’ll still sneak some drinks). I just need to know where to get the funny underwear.
Here’s to Kate & Trent.

For some reason I get a lot of joy out of talking about Denny’s Moons Over My Hammy. I ate one today, I enjoyed it. A toast to Moons Over My Hammy.

After hi-tailing it out of the home town in early May, I make my triumphant return to the Pacific Northwest tonight. I plan to celebrate with giant slabs of salmon, wearing Birkenstock’s with sox and a North Face fleece, and getting fucking drunk at the world famous Up & Up Tavern. I’ll probably eat a few Dick’s cheeseburgers too.
A toast to the homies who have offered me rides so I don’t have to rent a car like a sucker.
